The Denne Hill Cross Country Ride was established about 35 years ago following the Great Storm of 1987.

The very strong winds that hit Kent back then caused havoc to a large number of large trees, predominantly in the Park at Denne Hill. The fallen trees were, however, put to good use by being turned, in some form or another, into jumps.
